Stewart Schaffer is BayCare’s vice president for marketing, communications and business development, responsible for all marketing, public relations, communications and physician business development activities for the largest, community-based health system in Tampa Bay. BayCare is one of the region’s largest employers with 12 hospitals, 300 access points and more than 24,000 employees.
Since arriving at BayCare in 2009, Schaffer implemented the health system’s first organization-wide, integrated marketing strategy and successfully re-launched BayCare’s brand with coordinated mass-media and targeted campaigns. He also implemented BayCare’s, marketing data warehouse, integrated ROI dashboard, as well as an award-winning, in-house creative agency. He currently plays a key senior leadership role guiding new business development and strategic marketing as BayCare prepares for the future of health care under government reform.
Schaffer has a 30-year track record for creating shareholder value, developing membership and customer loyalty programs and implementing innovative, results-driven marketing and sales strategies for nationally-recognized companies, such as American Express, International Paper Company and ClubCorp International. He has a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
